If you have read our About Us section you know that we both have formal jobs. And we love what we do. But life inside an office or a classroom is full of challenges and stressful moments. It is almost impossible to remain calm and elegant all the time…
So to avoid a burnout (term that has become more and more common in the last few years), we have to take good care of ourselves!
Luckily for us, we love crafts!
We are passionate about embroidery, sewing, drawing, painting….
And a day never feels complete until we manage to do at least one of these things.
But where does all this love for arts and crafts come from?
We believe it must be in our blood!
We grew up surrounded by four very artistic people.
Grandma Hilda was a violin teacher and used to paint porcelain when she was younger. Today (at 98!) she spends most of her days crocheting!
Grandma Julia, who unfortunately now lights up the days in heaven, besides being the best cook in the universe and a teacher of artistic cakes, she was always doing crafty things, especially embroidery…
Our dad, who went to meet Grandma Julia in 2020 and whom we miss so much, was a very creative painter!
Our mom always enjoyed taking art classes. When we were much younger (let’s not talk about age…), she used to take us with her. And just like us, she is very passionate about cross stitching and quilting and she has made some very beautiful things!
That’s why we have been dedicating part of our days to arts and crafts since we were little kids.
Our first “works of art” still decorate the family walls! Although we believe they should be part of the family’s hidden treasures…
Well… we have improved a lot since then (at least we hope so!…).
But one thing we know for sure: we were very lucky to grow up in an artistic family.
Only those who make art know how much it fills our lives!
Art makes us feel good. It activates the creative part of our brain. And the more we get involved with it, the more we fill our bodies with molecules of joy!
For this reason, and thinking about how many people we know who have suffered burnouts lately, we are trying to think of effective ways to bring art to new places and reach for future artists.
We are shaping some ideas around here and soon we will be releasing some news on this front.
And what about you?
What do you do to keep a sharp and healthy mind?
Tell us in the comments, we would love to hear from you!
Love,
Sisters
